Description of the project:

In today’s world enemy warfare is an important factor in any nation’s security. National security mainly depends on the army (ground), navy (sea), and air force (air). The important and vital role is played by army soldiers. There are many concerns regarding the safety of these soldiers. As soon as any soldier enters the enemy lines it is very vital for the army base station to know the location as well as the health status of all soldiers. In the Soldier Tracking System using GPS and GSM project, we have come up with the idea of tracking the soldier as well as giving the health status of the soldier during the war.

This will enable the army personnel to plan war strategies. By using the location sent by the GPS modem, the base station can understand the position of the soldier.

A detailed description of Soldier Tracking System using GPS and GSM:

Soldier tracking is one of the latest GPS based project ideas. And various important blocks of the system are as below:

Soldier unit: This unit is placed on the soldier. It has mainly 4 parts:

  1. Biomedical sensors: Here to find the health status of the soldier we are using a body temp sensor as well as a pulse rate sensor. These sensors will measure the body temperature and the pulse rate of a soldier and will be stored in microcontroller memory.
  2. 4 x1 Keypad: Here we are giving 4 keys as a facility to the soldier where he can send 4 predetermined values to the base camp.
  3. GPS Receiver: The GPS is used to log the longitude and the latitude of the soldier, which is stored in the microcontroller memory.
  4. GSM Modem: The GSM unit sends the SMS to the army base camp containing the health parameters and the location of the soldier.

Base unit: Upon receiving the SMS, the text message in mobile shows the solder’s GPS coordinates also the health status is displayed. In this way, army officials can keep track of all their soldiers.

Applications, Advantages, and Future development of the Soldier tracking system project

  1. No need to go on the field.
  2. Higher reliability.
  3. Cost-effective.
  4. Fast and efficient.
  5. We can further enhance this project to dial an emergency call if the soldier’s health parameters cross the threshold value or the soldier coordinates goes out of a certain / pre-decided track.

Question: I am a final year student in ECE and want to do a soldier tracking and health monitoring system using pacemakers which forms a closed-loop
project. Pacemakers should be used to monitor and provide artificial
pumping for the heart. A temporary pacemaker should be used. Please send
me the base paper and cost of the project?

Answer: Pacemaker is not available right now.

Question: Can we use any mobile instead of a GSM modem?

Answer: No, we can not use mobile or handset.

    all the GPS projects on here are based on the assumptions that you have GSM connectivity , how can we assum it just for the sake of it ??

    how weirt is the IDea that we assum GSM connectivity in a Battel field , whay about the Security part any one can just hack and get the Soilder cordinates …

    Can any modification can be done for such situation.
    I’m looking to make a tracking device that can placed inside the pocket or just bag anything that we would like to track which will be using a GPS and GSM modules and get its longitude and latitude on my android or PC . So if u have any idea on this plz let me and i would be grate full to you.
