Description of the project:

Many times we hear cases of bikes getting stolen from the parking area. Or sometimes we forgot to remove the keys from the bike by mistake. In these cases, it is really difficult to get the bike back. “Password based Lock for Bike security with ignition key” project is designed to solve this purpose. The main concept behind this project is a bike security system using a password entered through a keypad. This system turns on the Buzzer when the wrong password is entered 3 times.

A detailed description of the Password based Lock for Bike security with ignition key project:

Whenever the user inserts a key in the ignition lock, the LCD display shows the message “Enter Password:”. The user has to enter a password using the Keypad provided with this electronics project. If the entered password is correct then Relay and DC motor is turned on.

The user can change this password anytime he/she wishes using a keypad. This changed password is stored in the external EEPROM memory IC. Thus bike security system project can store the changed password even if there is a power cut.

Description in detail:

Password lock for bike project mainly consists of the following blocks:

  1. Keypad: The user needs to enter the password using the keypad. Various keys of the keypad are: a) 0 to 9 b) Enter c) Escape
  2. LCD: We are going to use a 16 x 2 alphanumeric Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) which means it can display alphabets along with numbers on 2 lines each containing 16 characters.
  3. Buzzer: We are going to use a buzzer to indicate the wrong password to open the ignition.
  4. Microcontroller: This is the CPU (central processing unit) of the electronic lock for the bike project. We are going to use a microcontroller of the 8051 family. The various functions of the microcontroller are like:
  • Reading the digital input from Keypad
  • Sending this data to LCD so that the person operating this project should read the password
  • Sensing the password using the keypad.
  • Check whether it is a correct password or a wrong password and rotate the motor if the password entered is a correct password.

  1. Password based Lock for Bike security with ignition key project can be used in various bikes.
  2. The password detector project can be used to automate the ignition locking process, so the user need not carry the ignition lock keys along with him, he can just remember the password and use it later to open the ignition.

  1. We can send this data to a remote location using a mobile or a GSM modem
  2. We can implement other related modules like fire sensors.

Question: is it possible to make it GSM based i.e when someone tries to unlock or play with the password you will get a message on your cell phone?

Answer: Yes it is possible, we can implement GSM technology in Password Lock for the Bike Ignition Security project. We can connect a GSM modem to this project. It will send an SMS to the owner of the vehicle. SMS will contain the status of the password entered.
